Cairngorms is a stunning setting in Autumn, as it provides an abundance of hillsides of birch, oak, beech and rowan trees captivating an explosion of light and colour. It is no surprise that photographers love the autumnal setting which offers a wonderfully warm colour pallet for the camera. The rugged beauty of Cairngorms offers the perfect opportunity to capture the vibrant autumnal colours of the trees reflected in the lochs and rivers running through the hillsides and experiment with some different techniques.

The changeable Scottish weather means that light can change rapidly and a sudden drop in the quality of light offers the opportunity to use some ICM or multiple exposures. This gives photographers the chance to experiment and enjoy new techniques they wouldn't normally use. By moving the camera and combining exposures, mistakes can lead to a pleasant surprise. Doug Chinneryand Valda Bailey provide photography tours around Cairngorms in autumn, which aims to teach the fundamentals of multiple exposure/ ICM photography, however theirultimate goal is to assist photographers in finding their own creative direction and observations. During the tour photographers work on capturing the landscapes beauty using both classic and alternative camera techniques. The sensational light in the Cairngorms provides the perfect platform to try out some different techniques such as subtle camera movement or multiple exposures, along with the autumn foliage bursting with vibrant colour and warped ancient trees.

The objective of this 5 day tour is to help photographers inject passion and emotion into images in subtle ways, to explore how to let go of the some of the usual techniques and to express themselves through these alternative methods, so you can use them as a creative tool when you feel the moment is right. Days are arranged around the light, shooting sunrise to sunset when conditions are good. At times when the conditions aren't so good the time will be used for image reflection, lightroom and Photoshop workshops. This tour give photographers the perfect opportunity to release some of the 'rules' of traditional landscape photography and promises to be a creative and inspiring experience.
